MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of the Treme Artists Collective (TAC) is to keep alive the traditions, performance practices and history of music of the African Diaspora; specifically music created in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. The TAC is to support BIPOC artist from the seven state region who create, perform or educate about traditional African and African-American music. Finally, the TAC is to raise funds for BIPOC non-profits which educate youth and the community on the contributions of Africans and African-Americans to the music of the world. VISION STATEMENT The TAC envisions a world where music, which represents the achievements of enslaved Africans, is preserved, taught and presented in a concert, workshop and educational environment. We aspire to affect change through the accurate presentation of the accomplishments of the enslaved Africans, their music and the resulting creations brought about through the musical influences of Indigenous, African, and European people. We hope to inspire political change and education reform while instilling an understanding and respect for the achievements of BIPOC individuals. |
